The Warriors (4-1) were led by strong all-around games from numerous players, including the Kerstein sisters. Junior guard Lexi Kerstein averaged 14.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals while shooting 51% from the field. Freshman guard Nikki Kerstein shot 54% and averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.2 steals.
“The Kerstein sisters do a great job antagonizing the opposition’s guards, which get us some easy baskets,” Deerfield coach Nicole Keith said. “They read off of one another and double-team girls through their great basketball IQ.
“What I’m most excited to continue seeing growth in is the part of the game that doesn’t make the stats line: the hustle plays, the loose balls and the defensive efforts that don’t get talked about.”
